David Bresnahan

Trombone

David Bresnahan is a native of Manchester, New Hampshire. He got his Bachelor degree in Music Education from Plymouth State College and a Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Bresnahan recently retired after a thirty-five year teaching career in public schools and is continuing his passion for mentoring young educators as the Director of Music Education at Southern New Hampshire University. Mr. Bresnahan has teaching experience at the elementary, junior high and high school levels. He is past president and a founding member of the New Hampshire Band Directors Association and a former Director on the Executive Board of the New Hampshire Music Educators Association. He received the 1 NH Governor’s Award for Arts in Education, the NHBDA Outstanding Band Director Award and was chosen “One of the Fifty Most Influential Music Educators In America Award” by School Band and Orchestra Magazine. He was a recipient of the City of Manchester’s “ Excellence in Education” award, the ”John R. McLane, Jr. Arts Award” for leadership in the performing arts. Mr. Bresnahan was chosen as the “Distinguished Music Educator of the Year” by the New Hampshire Music Educators Association and received the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Award (Edie). He was the recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s “Legion of Honor” Award for 2010. He currently performs with several jazz and swing bands in New England.
